Recently my class started a new unit about interview strategies. I learned a lot and wanted to share some of them with you. First of all, I learned not to ask yes or no questions and instead ask my subject to tell me about things. I also learned how to set up microphones. Lastly, I learned how to compose a shot for an interview. You want to put your subject in a third in the video and have the interviewer diagonal from them. You also want the shot set up so only the subjects shoulders and head show in the video. Lastly, I learned that as the camera operator to never look at the subject. The new unit has taught me a lot about interviews.
